| The main house was converted from a barn in 1983 by the previous owners. We moved in 12 years ago and converted the rest of the barn to make the holiday cottage accommodation.
Built around 150 years ago, the barn was originally part of the property of the then working farmhouse next door and the garage buildings were pigsties. It is thought that the house across the road used to be a coaching house, the road being one of the main Norwich to Thetford routes. It is suggested that the pond, which originally covered most of the lawn, was dug out to supply clay to make the clay lump (breeze block sized lumps of clay and straw) used to build the barn. The Oriel window at the end of the house was originally a door with staircase to allow access to the second floor. |
